Hire a houseboat
Renmark Houseboats offer a holiday with a difference. Whether you want a romantic getaway or a large family holiday, why not discover the wonders of the Murray River and try a few days or a week or more with Renmark Houseboats. Operating just north of the township of Renmark (the home of houseboating), you’ll have the chance to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the river above Renmark to the NSW border (approx. 120 km of river). Wildlife abounds in this area and many birds can be seen daily. The scenery changes constantly with cliffs intermingled with river red gum box trees. Koalas, emus and Kangaroos are a common sight with the odd Goanna sometimes seen towards dusk. Try your hand at a spot of fishing (lures around fallen trees can sometimes produce good size, Golden Perch). Awaken to the majestic sounds of the Murray River and enjoy the magnificent sunsets and the brightness of the stars at night. The friendly staff at Renmark Houseboats provide guided instructions on piloting and mooring the boat. All you need is a current full drivers licence and be over 18 years of age.
Jump aboard a paddle steamer
Experience a bygone era with a scenic cruise on the authentic, historic P.S. Industry. Hear the unique sounds of the paddle wheels, the hiss of the steam and see the wood-fired boiler be stoked. A static museum whilst moored at the rear of the Renmark Paringa Visitor Information Centre. Cruises take place on the first Sunday of each month. Devonshire tea and scones baked in a wood-fired oven is included in ticket prices.
